PostDoc on MicroBooNE/SBN/DUNE
University of Manchester

My name is Andy Furmanski and I am a postdoc with the University of Manchester working on liquid argon neutrino experiments. I have been based at Fermilab for over 3 years now and in that time have benefited a great deal from having fantastic FSPA officers. As an international employee, I’ve had a different experience of the lab relative to US-based students and postdocs. I understand firsthand how FSPA serves a crucial role in ensuring that all young people at the lab are represented and also provides meaningful and fun experiences for people to connect and build relationships. If elected, I will ensure that anyone adapting to life at Fermilab has all of the resources and support they need to feel welcome and included. I’d also love to help FSPA begin to organize off-site events – whether in Chicago or nearby state parks – so that people can learn how much the local area has to offer. My current experience as a member of the neutrino social organising committee, which arranges weekly social events for neutrino physicists of all ages at the lab, will lend itself well to my role on the FSPA. I hope to be considered for this opportunity so that I can better serve my Fermilab community and help to enhance life at the lab.
